Muistoja talteen – Recording memories

Työpöydälläni on pyörinyt jo pari vuotta kaksi pientä kuittia aurinkovarjon ja – vuoteen vuokraamisesta Mallorcalla (jaa-a, milloinkahan viimeksi siivosin työpöytäni).

Two small receipts have been lying around on my working table for about two years now. They are receipts for renting a sunshade and a deck chair in Mallorca. (I wonder when was the last time I cleaned up my table)

Työpöydälläni lojui myös pussillinen vanhoja komeronoven nuppeja, jotka ostin joskus kirpparilta (siitä ei sentään ole kuin vajaa vuosi).

There was also a bagful of closet door knobs on my working table. I bought them at a flea market (less than a year ago!)

Ja mitä näillä sitten on tekemistä keskenään? Ei mitään, ellen olisi törmännyt Tiimarissa muutamalla sentillä myytäviin kirjaimiin. Niitä oli jäljellä enää hajakappaleita, ei esimerkiksi N- ja I-kirjainta ollenkaan. Ostin useampia M- ja L-kirjaimia sen sijaan ja pätkin ylimääräisiä sakaroita pois. Mustaa kangasväriä oli omasta takaa sekä kirpparilta parilla eurolla ostettu pellavainen tyynynpäällinen.

And what have these two things to do with each other? Nothing, until I ran into wooden letters that were sold for 9 eurocents at a local craft shop. Unfortunately there were only random letters left. For example no N- nor I-letters but I bought more M- and L-letters and cut the extra spikes away. Black textile color I had already and also a linen pillow case bought for a few coins at a flea market.

Liimasin kirjaimet ovennuppeihin. Käytin niitä leimasimina ja painoin kankaalle tekstin kuiteista. Tyynyliinaan tuli muisto Mallorcasta ja kauniista aurinkoisista lomapäivistä.

 

I glued the letters to the door knobs and used them as stamps. I printed the text from the tickets to the linen pillow case and got myself a nice memory from the sunny holidays at Mallorca.

Tyynyliinan sisälle sujautin vanhan tyynyn ja asettelin sen keinutuoliin. Keinutuoli on mieheni äidin peruja ja siinä olen lapsiani nukuttanut vauvoina. Se on myös tosi hyvä tuoli kipeälle selälle ja vatsalihaksetkin joutuvat töihin keinutellessa. Laiskan tytön kuntoilulaite siis.

I slipped an old pillow inside the pillow case and put it on the rocking chair which my husband inherited from his mother. I have cradled my babies to sleep in that chair. It is very good for an aching back too. And it’s good exercise to sit in it because you have to use your abs to make it rock. A lazy girl’s exercise machine, you know.

Mitä ihmettä tuolla alimmaisessa korissa oikein on?

What on earth is there in that lowest string basket?

Näyttää olevan keskeneräisiä töitä. Enpähän tiennyt, että minulla tällainenkin kori on jossakin.

They seem to be unfinished quilts. I didn’t know I have this kind of basket somewhere.

Mitäs täällä Bershkan muovikassissa on? Vaikuttaisi vähän niin kuin….. ei voi olla totta!!!!

What is there in this plastic bag of Bershka? It appears like….. It can’t be true!!!!

Vihdoinkin löysin sen keskeneräisen peiton, jota olin tekemässä tyttärelleni, ja joka salaperäisesti katosi. Kerroin siitä täällä. Mutta  hetkinen, minähän etsin sitä erään toisen kanssa…..

At last I found that unfinished quilt I was making for my daughter. It disappeared mysteriously. I posted about it here. But hey, there was someone else with me when I tried to find it….

Hei, herätys! Löysin vihdoin sen peiton, jota etsiskelimme noin vuosi sitten. Tiedätkö sinä tästä asiasta jotakin, mitä et ole kertonut minulle?

Hey, wake up! I found the quilt we were looking for about a year ago. Do you know something about this matter you haven’t told me before?

  Ei saa lyödä, ei saa lyödä! Minä kerron kaiken.

Minä näin kun sinä laitoit sen peiton sinne koriin.

 I confess. I saw you putting that quilt into that basket.

12. väri: mansikka – 12th color: strawberry

Mansikka-aika on jo kahden kuukauden takana, mutta kauniitahan ne olivat. Ja täynnä hurmaavia keltaisia pilkkuja.

The strawberry season was already two months ago. The berries were beautiful and full of charming yellow spots.

Mansikanpunaista, keltaista ja vihreää löytyi tilkkujämistäni helposti.

I easily found strawberry red, yellow and green in my stash.

Siitä tuli sitten tällainen pikkutähti.

I made it small.

Keskusta oli aluksi vähän liian säntillinen, mutta leikkelin sitä lisää ja nyt olen siihen tyytyväinen..

The center of the star was a bit too systematic but I cut it and sewed it again. Now I’m quite satisfied with it.

Same star, different angle

Kaikki valmiit tähdet levitin lakana päälle lattialle. Ne eivät välttämättä ole siinä järjestyksessä kun ne sitten ompelen yhteen. Sitä paitsi kolme pientä tähteä vielä puuttuu. Luulen, että jotain sinistä tulee seuraavaksi.

I spread all the finished stars over an old sheet on the floor. They aren’t necessarily in the same order I’m going to sew them together. Besides three small stars are still undone. I think the next one will have something blue in it.
