Kesän satoa, kirjansidonta - The summer harvest, book binding

Tänä kesänä en ole saanut tilkkutyörintamalla oikein mitään aikaan. Kaikkea muuta olen kyllä puuhastellut niin, ettei ole jäänyt aikaa päivittää tätä blogiakaan.  Alkukesästä opettelin RAITA-opinnoissa kirjansidontaa. 

This summer I didn’t get much done as far as the quilting goes. I’ve been keeping busy with various other projects so I haven’t had time to write this blog either. In the early summer I learned book binding (in connection with my artisan studies called RAITA =stripe).

Maalasin kansipaperin ja käytin estona vahaa ja sain aikaan näin nostalgisen työn. Tästä tulee mieleen 50-luku (ei sillä että muistaisin sitä vuosikymmentä). Tämä pitäisi kotitehtävänä täyttää kesän kuvilla, joissa aiheena on (yllätys, yllätys) raita! 

 I painted the cover paper using wax to make colored figures. Look what a nostalgic piece I managed to do! It reminds me of the 50’s (not that I could remember that  decade!). For homework this summer I have to fill this book with photos of stripes.

Toisen kirjan kansipaperiin valitsin vihreän värin ja sivuina käytin erivärisiä papereita. Yritin saada aikaan kuvioita suolalla, mutta käytin liian hienoa suolaa. Sitä varisee kirjasta edelleen joka paikkaan. 

For the cover paper of the other book I chose green and used bright colored papers as pages. I tried making  figures to the cover with salt, but I used too fine salt. It is still falling off the book to all over the place.

 

Pintarakenteesta tuli kuitenkin mielenkiintoinen.

 Anyway the surface became rather interesting.
