Hyvät, pahat ja rumat, osa 3 Rumat – The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, part 3 The Ugly ones

 

Hyvät ja pahat KETut käsittelin edellisissä postauksissa. Jäljellä on vielä ne rumat, joista ei tekemälläkään saa kelvollista:

I dealt with the good and the bad UFO´s in my previous posts.  The last ones, the uglies are those I can´t make anything useful of.

Rumilus. Nämä ei ole rumia oikeastaan ollenkaan, kun nyt katson, ja se olikin tarkoitus. Tämä KETtu kuuluu haasteeseen, jossa piti upottaa omasta mielestä rumat kankaat työhön, niin että lopputuloksessa niiden rumuutta ei edes huomaa. 12 blokkia tehtynä (2 aina samanlaista) ja nekin eri kokoisia, koska ohje oli tuumissa, eikä minulla tuolloin ollut tuumaviivaimia vaan muunsin mitat senteiksi ja KETtuhan siitä tuli.

Ugly. Actually, these aren´t ugly at all when I look at them now. In fact, that was the meaning of the challenge where you should use the fabrics you think are ugly among other fabrics so that you don´t notice those ugly ones. I managed to do 12 blocks and all of them in different sizes because the instruction was in inches and at that time I didn´t have an inch ruler and I changed inches to centimeters. No wonder it became an UFO.

Ruutua ja raitaa. On tällä mallilla joku nimikin, en nyt vaan muista mikä. Vähän alakuloisen näköinen KETtu väritykseltään, eikä kulmatkaan osu aina kohdalleen. Blokkeja on kuitenkin 12, joten ehkä kissan makoilupeitoksi kelpaisi tämä KETtu.

Checks and stripes. I ´m sure this model has a name. I just can´t remember what it is. This UFO´s coloring is a bit melancholy. And the corners don´t match. Though there are 12 blocks so they might suit for a quilt for my cat to lie down.

Korituolin peitto. Tämän KETun velipuoli kului jo käytössä ennen kuin tämä tuli valmiiksi. Kaikki erivärisiä farkkukankaita. Purkuun ja uusiokäyttöön laitan tämän KETun kankaat.

Wicker chair cover. The step brother of this UFO has been worn out before this was finished. All the fabrics are from jeans. I´ll just unravel this and reuse the fabrics.

Vanha nimetön. Todella vanha KETtu, ohje 1990-luvun alun kirjasta, jossa oli suomalaisia malleja ja niiden väritys Suomen luonnosta. Olen jopa pistellyt langalla yhteen saman rivin tilkut. Siitä huolimatta kuoppaan vanhan nimettömän KETun lopullisesti.

Old nameless. This is a really old UFO. The instruction was in a book from early 1990´s. The book was about Finnish quilt models and the coloring was from Finland´s nature. I´ve even tacked the patches of the same column. Nevertheless I´ll bury this old nameless UFO for good.

Hyvistä KETuista (KET = KeskenEräinen Työ) kerroin edellisessä postauksessa. Näitä pahoja ovat ne, jotka vaativat paljon työtä, mutta jotka sitten (ehkä) olisivat vaivan arvoisia.

I let you know about the good UFOs in the last post. These bad ones are those that need a lot of work but it may be worth the effort. 

Bargello-viritelmä. KETuksi muuttuminen ollut tosi nopeaa, jopa nuppineulat on jääneet työhön kiinni 😊. Valmiita soiroja jo jonkin verran, mutta miltä lopputuloksen pitäisi näyttää, siitä minulla ei ole mitään muistikuvaa.

Bargello something. Becoming an UFO was very quick. Even the pins are still in the work 😊. A small part of the work is done but I don´t have a faintest idea what it should look like when it´s finished.

Räsymatto. Mökkikäsityö menneiltä vuosilta. Vaatii vain paljon uusia resurssipaloja jonoon ja KETtu on karkotettu.

Rag rug. I started this quilt in a summer cottage years ago. It needs just that I sew a lot of scraps in a row and it won´t be an UFO anymore.

Syksyllä kaikki on toisin. Suuritöinen seinävaate, josta vasta murto-osa edes leikattu. Mutta jälleen nuppineuloilla laitettu kiinni yhteen kuuluvat palat. Ja mallipiirroskin löytyy.

In Autumn everything is different. This is a very laborious wall hanging. Only a small part of it is cut. But a good point is that the those cut columns are pinned together. And the design drawing is aboard.

Jo syntymässä unohdettu. Tämä ei ole kovin vanha KETtu, koska muistan, miltä lopputuloksen pitäisi näyttää. Tämä tarvitsee vain paljon resurssipaloja ja jotain voi syntyä, eikä enää unohtua. Voisi käyttää myös Leaders/Enders -työnä.

Forgotten before the birth. This isn´t a very old UFO because I remember what the result should look like. This needs only a lot of scraps and something will be born and not forgotten. It could be used as a Leaders/Enders work too.
